how the hell did that happen??

out for a ride this afternoon, making the most of a great sunny day.
been about 70 miles and only 2 from home speedo stops working. "bugger!" i think, get home and take broken cable off and order a new one?

what i find is cable has not broken it has unscrewed itself from the speedo!

this is good as i do not need a new one,but has anyone else had this happen?

yes on different bikes too it just boils down too the cable vibrating loose i reckon, i usually give the screw on collar on the cable a little tweak with a pair of pliers, not too much though as they are made out of craptastic soft metal

Everyone, but EVERYONE knows that's 'cos your riding too slow.

Turn the wick up, get a wiggle on, a twist of the wrist that's all you need. Don't worry about the rozzers, just mention that you're making sure that the speedo' keeps operating properly.

happens all the time to me, or on a regular basis anyway... I keep promising that next time it happens i'll put back on with some locktite, but it's such an easy fix that I just wind it back on at the roadside & then forget about it untill the next time it falls off...

Mine used to always fall off, usually after I had oiled it, because it was not tightened up properly.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

I think that proves my theory, you mustn't under any circumstances slow down. Once that throttle goes back to towards it's resting position you're doomed.

    DOOMED I tell ya
