LED rear light.... Have you got one ??

Has anybody got an LED rear light replacement.. I just bought one from Germany and it has a very simple installation. Basically you use the existing bulb holder by removing the bulb and plugging in the LED light in its place..
Having done this to mine I find no back light just brake light.....
I send the unit back to them and today I receive an Email saying they have tested it and it is working fine (although they did say it was not tested on a bike it was powered from a battery) Just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience.

Make sure you plug it in the right way round. Mine works fine.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

I did think that myself... Only problem is how do you know its the right way it will fit both ways. Could I have blown the original unit by plugging it in the wrong way..??..

The middle pin is the earth, I think check on your loom side of the plug, it will be the green wire. Be careful with the units wires they rip of the circuit board easily. If you have a multimeter then find which wire is live when the lights ignition is on.
Check the unit to see if the brake light comes on all the time.
Check the wire in the units plug to make sure it is on the right side to make contact with the terminal in the bulb holder.

Where in Essex are you as I am going to Chelmsford on Friday.

Re: LED rear light.... Have you got one ??

Thanks for the help Stumpy .... I am only 20 mins from chelmsford but am back at work friday in Tottenham...
Also I am waiting for another unit to be delivered as although the supplier has said it was fine I have asked them to supply me with a new one.
I will strip the rear unit off when it comes and test all the wiring before i install the new unit..

And make sure you test the brake light with both the handbrake lever, and the foot lever,,,
One of the switches might be faulty.
It's not that uncommon that the foot switch needs replacing.

Normally the 'standard bayonet stop/tail light fitting has offset pins so that the lamp will only go in one way.

The capless sort is equally asymmetrical - usually by 2 sizes of tab moulded into the glass.
