Unhappy Tank Bag for the 700

    Hi Yall,

Well it had to be done. Got my TA 700 about six weeks ago, had a free week and thought I needed a bonding session with my TA. so off i set Nottingham to inverness or bust. Did it in one day, trailed around the highlands for a couple of days then back in a day. Great fun if a little tiring. Anyway the point of this post.

Tank Bags. Any Ideas folks. looked every where for one, eventually found a suction cup job at HG but out of the 5 cups only one would sit snuggly on the tank. Couldn't find a magnetic one that would fit. the plastic panels on the side of the tank see to that and the available tank space is really narrow. the one i got was secured with bungees but its a real P.I.T.A when it comes to tanking up and you know what those lovely motorists are like if you make them wait for a pump for more than a nanosecond.

So any ideas folks of a tank bag that you can get on and off in a reasonable time, with enough space for the escential goodies, drink, fags, glove liners, maps, phone etc etc.

By the way the bike behaved faultlessly nigh on 1700 miles in 5 days and an average 55 to the gallon. So Glad for the grip heaters though, twas a bit parky in the cairngorms late at night.

    Touratech has announced one: http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/p...9fd9df8a4750dc

However, it will probably take an age before its delivered and the price is probably double that of other brands!

All depends how much you want to pay.
there are systems that screw onto the filler cap mount that look like a horseshoe then the tankbag locks onto that, can be wired up for a power source inside the bag, fit and come off in nanoseconds but they aint cheap

or get a tankbag with strap fitting
On offer at the moment for €30 through Louis.de

I quickly discovered my tank bag was no use on the TA but I got a tail pack instead.
No good if you want the transparent bit on a tank bag for map or whatever or if a pillion and you have to lift your leg a wee bit higher to get on but secure and does not need removed when you fill up and just a few seconds to remove?

    I shouldn't butt in -
Grey alp is that a Schuberth lid dangling on the edge of your grips waiting to fall off.

I have the smaller version of Grey Alp's bag and although it isnt the cheapest in the world it is really rather practical with the quick release being nice and easy at the petrol station. I got the map holder as well which clips on with clips and velcro and is as well made as the bag... If you have the money I'd definately recommend one....
