    TA Gear Lever

Does anyone know what other Honda models' gear lever would fit a 2001 TA?

I know the AT does but do any others. Seems to be a lot of levers on Ebay but none for TAs, ATs.

    Cheers

Apparently, the gear levers for the Honda CR85 fits, as does that for the MTX125/200. See these posts -

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

MTX 125/200 fits as i tried it on my bike, shame i do not have a spare as it has a folding end just in case of bike drop damage.
the CR85 does not have a rubber cover so may wear thru boots over time?

    folding gear lever for 600T/A?
The CR85 lever fits, but it needs some modifications to be of use as the crank and length are both wrong I found. I shortend it by ???, enough anyway and then warmed the middle of the lever and straightened it a bit. The other problem is the the bolt come in from upside down and is a pain to reach if the gearbox sprocket guard is in place!

In all, possibly not worth the hassle if you can get one that fits properly

You'll find the Touratech one is longer than standard too so if you want one the same length, that's not the way to go.

As for the CR85 lever, I found it ideal for my AT. The whole point of fitting it was that it is slightly longer (25mm at a guess) and easier to use when standing on the pegs in MX boots. The offset seems to be the same as the standard Africa Twin lever so perhaps the offset on the AT is different from the TA. Grendel fitted an AT lever and didn't raise that as a problem so not sure about that.

Since the standard CR85 lever is alloy, shortening and bending it would certainly be a hassle. Have you got some pics of the finished mod Steve?

Well the one I picked up was a bit over a tenner off a fleabay shop and is made of mild steel, so is an aftermarket job. It is a good bit longer as the modded article is still a reach, even when wearing mx boots!

I'll see if i can find a camera that can take a pic, not much to see mind, I simply ground the welds off so the the folding tip "subframe" came off and then shortened the lever by about 3/4".

    Re: TA Gear Lever

Hmm. Sounds like that lever was considerably longer than the standard item in that case - something to be aware of when considering a pattern CR85 lever.

I think mine was the same length as a standard CR85 lever - about 25mm longer than the stock AT//TA item so as long as anyone doing the swap gets a standard length CR85 one raather than an extra long one they should be okay without cutting and shutting.

    Re: TA Gear Lever

Got the CR85 lever as a spare under the seat. Better than being stranded (somewhere nice hopefully....) for the sake of no gears. Never used it but tried it for size when I bought it. From memory - bit longer than std but good for a spare.
