    Brake Master cylinder

Whilst looking at the electrical gubbins, I thought I'd have a look at the missing mirror that came off when Mrs Flip had to park her bike on it's side going up the Stelvio pass this year!!!
Car chopped the hairpin and she stopped, but the bike toppled over and the mirror hit the wall. Instead of breaking the mirror, it has taken out the casting on the Master cylinder.......Aaaaaaaaargh!!!!

Any options or is it a replacement master cylinder. I have an older spare master cylinder, but don't really fancy swapping the bits. Both say 1/2 on them (or at least I think from memory it is 1/2) so I'm guessing it should be easy enough???

Alternatively, where can I get a cheap secondhand master cylinder in good nick for a 2001 650 ????

If you kept the broken bits I'd try bonding them with JB Weld. The join is not safety critical assuming the master cylinder doesn't leak now and JB Weld should be strong enough for the job. Make the join then spray WD40 on the mirror arm thread before insertion to ensure you can unscrew it if necessary once the stuff has hardened.

What a small world (and completely off topic) - I met you in the Lakes last February. I was the only one not on a GS.
