You will need an extremely long bladed screwdriver or a long 7 mm socket, to reach the balancing screw.
It is adjusted through the hole in to air-box, also will need a separate fuel supply on gravity feed.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

One thing that you want to be careful of, is to not press down on the carb balancing screw as you adjust it as it will mess up the adjustment.

So, be careful. Take the weight of the screwdriver in your hand, which you can rest on the airbox, and twiddle the screw carefully.

And be careful with your "alternate" fuel supply. I bodged an arrangement but got away with it - looking for a more suitable job for next time. Small fuel tank off a lawn mower or strimmer would be ideal.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

    Re: carb balancing

I use an empty scotoiler bottle, upside down connected the loose end of the fuel pipe and strapped to the crash bars witha bungee. Works OK for me, although there is enough in the carbs for 2-3 minutes running, so if you are quick....

I used my mate to hold a funnel in the pipe and keep topped up as necessary.

    Re: carb balancing

It's always best to balance the carbs after any other work has been carried out (plugs valves etc), and balance with the engine at working temp.

I normally check with the tank on (normally check at each oil change) to give an idea, take the tank off, there is normally enough fuel in the pipe to do the adjustment.
As mentioned, take the weight of the screwdriver off the adjusting screw and blip the throttle a time or two to make sure they are the same.

You will find that the vacuum readings will not be exactly the same when you blip the throttle.

The book says they may vary by 20 millibars*
Mine came up very close to even so I left them at that.

    *( I think it is Millibars )
