Help to decide. Is Remus exhaust for me ?

    Hi all
I just got an offer for a new Remus alu can for about £180 incl p&p to my Transalp 600 -97.
It's a good price, I think, but can anyone recommend it ?
    I have Hepco-Becker pannier racks.
Has anyone had fitting problems between aftermarket exhaust and rack?
How loud is it. Too loud ?

It think it's called: Innovation, slip on, Alu, Racing, 76 mm
as this is the only can for XL600V on the Remus website.

I don't need a new exhaust, it would just be a nice extra.

Remus seem to be pretty highly regarded.

Two points, being alloy, it will be a complete PITA if you use the bike much in winter and you say it's a race can - are you sure you don't want the option of removable baffles?

Re: Help to decide. Is Remus exhaust for me ?

I have this model Remus on my 98 Alp. I find that it is slightly louder than a stock Honda pipe and it gives a much fuller deeper exhaust note - which makes me smile!

I had no problems fitting it and it seems very well put together, the alloy has started to tarnish slighty, but that is after 3years of all weather use.

The non removable baffle could be a problem, if you find the exhaust isn't loud enough for you.

    Hope this helps

I've got one exactly the same on my 88 TA and and my mate has one on his, not too loud but just loud enough to make a few heads turn. I agree with Transalfa it is a great deep sound.
Can't comment on if it will be a problem with your pannier rack as i only have a top box.

    Thanx for the info.
It seems to be exactly what I want in terms of loudness. I was worried
about the word Racing in the description meaning it would be too loud.
A bit louder, "manlier" sound, better looks and possibly better response is what I'm looking for.
My bike is in very good condition for a -97 except for the not so good
looking oem exhaust can and even though I drive all year round,
it's mainly in dry weather and for fun.
I'll have to measure too see if there is room for the can inside the pannier rack.

Had this can on my '99 (not with racks though).
Winter salt dulls the finish but it comes up sparkling with Autosol.
The link pipe is stainless and it fits easily. As others have said, nice rumbly sound, not too loud.

Can't comment on the Remus, but seemed well made on my Dad's R1150R.

    On the TA, however, ARROW!!!!!

I foolishly did remove the baffle and I don't regret it one jot: what a noise!!

Irresponsible, inconsiderate, basically everything I hate in others, but by god do I love that noise!! Arrow race exhaust: hypocricy incarnate!
