I've managed to do 2 lanes (about 7 miles worth) that normally are only do-able in the very dry summer - they are still very muddy - just all the mud is frozen rock hard, making it easy work. Except that the CBS on the 700 means you can lock the front on ice by only using the rear brake. The CBS/ABS is amazing on the road though - so happy to put up with it.
On the subject of green lanes, I need to move somewhere drier or warmer, I just find the UKs lanes are quite often just complete mud baths - I know some of you love spending all day picking your bike up and all evening washing mud out of your groin but give me dry gravel fast roads any day.
