Well, it was farewell to the 650v and hello to the 700Va this morning despite the arctic conditions ! Nice run around on the new bike and most impressed. Now recoveing from a mix of freezing conditions and a nice mix of diesel and ice on the roads !

Nice one. You'd better get some pics up.
Early days I know but, how is it compared to the 650?
2001 Transalp XLV650. Faithful old friend still chugging away nearly 100,00miles
2007 Varadero XLV1000. Now you're torquing but sadly gone to another forum member. One of the best bikes - period.
Yamaha XT660r - slowly getting it ready for some big adventures
Ooh, shiny!!
We need pictures as well as full comparison of the two machines. Not much really. Chop, chop!!![]()

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Yip, Shiny Shiny..
Glad you got home safety with the new steed .

Well - I took the test ride a coule of weeks ago and came back grinning like a cheshire cat - hence the decision to change !
Basically, there seems to be more power there, and the riding position seems to have been revised. Todays jaunt around the North West seemed to prove that the bigger tyres provide a bit more stability across the mix of gravel / diesel and ice that was encountered ! Nice clocks on the new one as well. The heated grips proved their worth too ! The dealler threw in a touring screen FOC and this seems OK, but does look strange on the new alp at first ! Went for the 2009 blue / white with gold rims colours - bit retro but I like them. Hope to get out on a couple of longer runs next week if possible.. that will give a better idea ! Tried a couple of other bikes and looked at the F800GS "Panzer", but the alp came out tops again. Will get some pics tomorrow and post more once Touratech manage to deliver the new kit for it. Ah - the ABS is excellentUSed in anager today and what would have produced "owl droppings" on the 650 was a nice stop on this critter ! Some good discounts available at the minute along with the Honda winter offer again !
