    Police Transalp?

I just found this fairing panel for sale on Ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-TRANSALP...1%7C240%3A1318

It claims to be from an Ex-police transalp um...which police do a lot of trail riding or is the guy making this up?

In the footage from the London underground/bus bombings, you'll see Met Police motorcyclists on the 650 TA.

West Midlands police use a Suzi DR-Z400 for chasing errant persons off-road.

The Met TA were silver and hiviz decals & lights on the standard bike with panniers & topbox and apparently fitted with BT45 tyres.

    Re: Police Transalp?

Quite recently at the Scotch Piper wednesday evening biker meet type pub a policeman turned up on a white 650 TA 06 plate with orange and yellow reflective bits. Said it was on loan from Ireland because Merseyside Ppolice were considering looking at them instead of the Pans they have as the BMWs were too expensive.

02 RD07a RWB, Powerbronze tall screen, Remus Grand Prix, TT crash bars, TT pannier frame, Zega style panniers, Alpos top box,TT bar risers, TT headlamp guard, Heated grips, mainstand, Heidenau K60s for road and light offroad, TKC80s for the dirty stuff, Scottoiler, Autocomm, TT Zumo mount, Zumo 550 and most of all A BIG GRIN !!! Oh, and a very nice RD04 HRC coloured Marathon Replica

    Re: Police Transalp?

Italian police were using TA's a few years back. I remember seeing two of them pulling whellies away from a set of traffic lights on a quiet day in Rome one August.

    Re: Police Transalp?

The Dutch police still use the TA, although I think they're completely moving away from Honda now.

Reason: the Dutch police wanted Honda to deliver the bikes with some modifications made at the factory, so they wouldn't have to do all that when they arrived in the Netherlands.

Honda didn't want to accomodate, Yamaha and BMW did. There are no Honda's in use anymore on the highways, only the occasional Transalp in the cities. There is an ongoing process of replacement where the TA is now being phased out in favour of the F650GS (which looks REALLY cool as a police bike).

    Honda must be kicking themselves...

    Gone but not forgotten:
'04 Tiger (MRA-Vario screen, Crash bars, K&N Airfilter, dual headlamp upgrade. Colour: orange, 'cause I'm Dutch, innit!)
    '93 ZZR600

The police round here used to have Transalp 600s (white), before they got the DRZ400s.

I believe those are the BTP TAs if you are taking about those shown on BBC and have orange livery.
