    Xl700va engine cutting out

    Hi all
just wondering if anyone has any probs with the new 700 at very low speeds my engine just cuts out dead like when the kill switch is hit. It dose not happen all the time bike has been back to honda and no fault found i would welcome any ideas of what it could be. Many thanks

Could you give a more precise discription, I do not recall hearing this before but I could ask my mate at work, he has the DV700, same engine so might have the same problems.

Engine completley cuts out dead i.e if i pull up at a set of t/lights and clutch in and i 1st ready to pull away i get a small like missfire and bike cuts out but not all the time. A freind of mine who is a honda saleman was riding a new 700 demo and found the same thing but only did this once while he was riding. Mike

Could be the emission sensor leaning up the fuel too much. It is afterall controlled by a computer, and the program may be slightly off.

The missfire happens every time im out on the bike i would say in covering 50 miles will get 2 or 3 missfires but the cutting out has happend about 7 or 8 times since i have had the bike now has 2600 miles on the clock i also think it may be a sensor bike is back to dealers on monday for a recall issue i/e rear brake dragging so have told them i also want the other probs sorted. Apart from this it is a great bike to ride after being away from two wheels for 12yrs.

If they give it a proper road test it should identify itself to them.
I was away from biking for about the same amount of time, for some reason, The TA is defiantly a forgiving bike to return to.

As you say very forgiving and the right bike for me did not want a road rocket just a good all rounder for every day use and some touring but will be a lot happier when the small probs are taken care off then i can ride with a bit more confidence.

I believe this has happened to me twice on my TA 700 in 500, odd miles.
Engine was warm and just cut out on me whilst slowing, pulling up to 2 junctions, ie not stalled

If I see George tonight I will ask him, He has the DV700 and is a bike mechanic, so he might have some clue.

JUst had a new one for a month and its a different beast to the 650. The throttle is more sensitive and the power take up is much quicker. Not had a stall at stop but it does seem to need more revs to go from a start than the old 650 ? Guess the joys of having a computer in the way !
