    Speed rating of tyres

    Hi there

    I am buying tyres
    I can get an Anakee
    S (112 mph) for £48.23
    or H ( 130 mph) £58.41.

I havn't got a true 112 mph out of her, don't think I could ( Heavy load ) , but from a legal perspective I think it depends on the manufactures specs.

What is the listed top speed for a XL650 TA?

Never plan, but you know how it is.

If list is 110, then the plod can't complain.

So long as it's the same as the standard fitment it's ok. My 600 takes "S" rated tyres.
I suspect the H rated tyre is a radial?

    I meant tubeless!

    Re: Speed rating of tyres

I have tried various speed ratings and found they were all fine on my AT, but the lower rated tyres didn't last as long as the higher rated ones. But of course there is a price difference as well so it's swings and roundabouts really.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    Re: Speed rating of tyres

When I had my Citreon BX it had tyres rated at 130 MPH as standard, as all BX's had. Mine being a diesel only had a top speed of 98 MPH so I dropped the rating to s and had no problems.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
