    EBC discs & hub caps...

Hi all - newb alert! I'm just sticking EBC brake discs (MD6010D) on the front of my transalp and the hub caps no longer fit, as the internal shape of the discs is different to the original Honda - anyone else had this experience? Does it matter? Right now I have to either put the old discs back or leave the hub cap off, which leaves the spoke ends exposed.

    Any pointers gratefully received....

    cheers
    Mark

    Welcome to the forum,
What do you mean by Hub cap?
If the disc is correct for the bike then have you put it no the right way around?

Sorry can not be of much more help.

    there's a plastic disk between the brake discs and the axle, Haynes refer to it as the "hub cover", and it just covers the cavity containing the spoke ends - the original discs match cutouts in the cover, but the EBC disc doesn't; the inner diameter of the EBC discs is smaller than the outer diameter of the cover. a couple of piccies;
    - the cover is in the first picture, you can see the cutout for the disc
    - the last picture show what it'll look like finished if I leave the cover off

How is the cover mounted other that the cutouts, it may need mods done to make it fit with the new disc.

Leave the plastic bits out - I did when I forgot to put them back in when re-building my @ wheel .

Don't know what the plastic covers are for, but I can't imagine them being too important - my @ hasn't broke yet with them not being fitted

    Just my ramblings.

that was my first thought, but it looks really fiddly; a couple of mm "groove" all round the top edge - feels like a lot of effort

Must admit I'm quite tempted - the only thing I thought was that they must reduce the long term life of the wheel, if the spoke ends start corroding - unfortunately it turns out that my callipers are in major need of some TLC, which I wasn't prepared for, so I've got to take it all apart next week again anyway once I've got a seal kit - not looking forward to that job, never tried it before.

Of course it looks like riding to work may not be on the agenda this week! We need a bit more and a little less ice....

Re: EBC discs & hub caps...

Just to close this out in case anyone else comes across this at another time via search, EBC have confirmed I've got the right part number, and that it is indeed the wrong shape - it seems I bought the first one of this disc, surprisingly, from wemoto. The Honda original parts turned out to be a few quid cheaper anyway - and obviously Wemoto have agreed to take the EBC versions back, given they are a different shape to the original.

Glad they cleared that up for you.
WEMOTO are excellent at sorting out errors like that.
