    Fitting Tool Tube to XL700

Ive spent what seems like hours looking through the forum for ways to mount a tool tube on my Transalp 700. Ive seen every possible permutation on all sorts of bikes but not one on a 700.
The tube I bought was from http://www.adventure-spec.com/shop/t.../prod_114.html
And I see its gone up in price since I bought this a few weeks ago.

I have a top box fitted but no panniers of side rails so was looking at fitting it on the LH side above the chain guard but didn't want to start drilling holes in the plastic trim before being sure it will clear the suspension travel etc. There are a few bolts in that area but they look too far inboard and hence will foul on the suspension when the swing arm moves than just for normal road use.

So can anyone help with a few photos as I can't believe that no-one has done this yet. Thanks . . . . .

Seen someone selling TA700 Givi Soft case pannier racks if there still about...might give you somewhere to put it, otherwise the Givi Pannier rack pictured above is about the only place I can see.

    Ere you go:

    Givi/Kappa E21 panniers

Tigerjohn has a spare set of soft pannier racks T221

Link for the TA700 fitting which shows actual TA700 frame.

Mine came with one, you can make it out on this pic just to the right of the seat release though it is attached to a bracket fitted into the plastics in the wheel arch. They fitted it for the tools as I had the alarm fitted to the bike which takes up all the underseat space.

Is that a Honda product? Looks well fitted. Not near as big as the one looking to be fitted here but I'd have that one onboard given the choice. Anybidea of cost?

Re: Fitting Tool Tube to XL700

Bransons of Yeovil fitted it for free when I bought the bike as they literally had nowhere to put the tools. I also think it is a honda product, the key looks the part though doesn't have the space for the logo.

Having recently used the wrong key and opening it easily the key isn't actually a part anyway

Will investigate properly tomorrow and let you know

'Edit' Oh and all parts from the tool kit fit with the sole exception of the specialist spark plug tool

Re: Fitting Tool Tube to XL700

My one is fitted as in post 3, except it is fitted with stainless steel "P" clips. My bike is a 650 not a 700 but the fitment is identical.
