    advice for newbie

hello everyone, just found this brill forum while browsing, born again biker after a break of about 35 yrs, had an 04 transalp for about 2 yrs now, brilliant bike but could do with getting my feet down on the ground a little more, i have a lower seat fitted but is there anything else i could do to lower the bike anymore (apart from letting the tyres down lol) i suppose after nearly 2 yrs with the bike i'm managing but just wondered if anyone on here knows any fixes.

Hi Les, and welcome to the forum.

One thing that has been done is to drop the yolks down the forks a bit, so that the top of the fork tubes rise above the top yolk. Not sure what to do about the back other than to back off the preload adjustment. This is probably easiest done by removing the right hand side panel, battery and battery box - then you have easy access to the top of the shock.

Not had to do it myself though.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

As well as the above, you could wear platform shoes, like we used to in the seventies.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

for a start , drop the forks in the yokes, its free and simple. Then wind off all the pre-load, but don't carry passengers or heavy load at speed!!. lastly find an obese passenger, there are plenty around and faily cheap!!.

I know you only meant it in jest stumpy, but that was all i did when i got the alp was got some boots with a slghtly thicker sole and it just give me the height i needed .. i went to a motorbike shop on my other bike in the rain so had all waterproof gear on over me leathers and when i sat on the alp in the showroom it felt just slightly too high but i was wearing sidi boots at the time with a very thin sole(for a bike boot!)so i got some spada ones and that seemed to do the trick..til they wear out of course

a long time ago there was a tv series called the "the diary of a shedevil" and in it a girl has her legs broken then stretched with pins until she was taller. l would have that done but would like a brave soul to volunteer to try it first and l would pay half. Any takers, up to a grand waiting!!!.
