    Removing a transalp exhust

    Folks
Ideally I'd like to remove my exhaust to be sand-blasted. Is there a procedure to be followed for the removal or is it just a case of removing bolts from back to front? I dont have a Haynes manual so any help I can get from you guys is much appreciated.

    Chris

clamp where it joins the downpipes, two bolts to the frame then a bit of a twist and its off.
sandblasting is a bit harsh, might do more harm than good, try a wire brush and some exhaust paint. don't sandblast the downpies ever, stainless steel and sandblasting down mix, will get blasted then rust away to nothing in no time at all.

When I clean my exhaust can I undo the clamp, tap it a few times with a rubber hammer to unstick it, then undo the bolts that hold it to the frame.

Then clean it with solvent, then I wire-brush it with a steel brush head drill attachement.

Then acid-etch solution and then a few coats of black exhaust paint.

Could do with a session right now actually.

Invaluable advice as always. Many thanks. I've never removed an exhaust before so keep your fingers crossed for me!
