    XL700 connector block

Anyone got any idea if we can make use of the connector blocks that are hidden away behind the left hand rear body panel?
I’m looking for a switched live feed to activate a relay... Failing that any good places to connect without using a scotchblock or whatever they are called...?

    Thanks.

Should be possible... but DON'T use the neutral coloured 3-way one that's blanked off - it's the diagnostic for the ABS. I'll try and look up the others in the service manual tonight.

    Re: XL700 connector block

There's also a coloured (red?) 4-way connector (with a blanking cover) which is the PGM-FI diagnostic.

I have genuine Honda fogs on my bike. The controller relay for them plugs into a 6-way connector, and another 4-way connector.

On the wiring diagram, the 6-way is labelled OPTION (SECURITY) and has orange, light blue, black/yellow, red/green, and green wires going into it (5 wires only). The other 4-way (not the diagnostic) is labelled OPTION on the diagram and has pink/green, black/yellow, green, and red/green wires going into it. Green is the ground wire.

Probably it's that OPTION 4-way connector that will give you a switched live. The black/yellow on that connector connects into the same circuit as the black/yellow on the 6-way, and the red/green on the 4-way connects into the same circuit as the red/green on the 6-way (which is logical). I'm guessing that they may be switched live connectors (possibly through different fuses), but a multimeter will probably help you out there.

I hope this helps you a bit. Good luck.

Excellent...! thats a good place to start I'll get the multimeter out and see what I can find... It's gotta be a better option to make use of that than cutting into the loom.

Where did you get hold of a wiring diagram for the 700??

I bought myself a copy of the Honda Workshop manual - about 23 quid. Totally comprehensive, and quite interesting if you're into knowing hour your bike's bolted together...

I think they are better that the Haynes and worth the extra money.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
