    Removing the back rack

I need to remove the Rack at the rear, but theres a few bolts hidden under the rubber strips on the 700. has anyone removed these and is it a case just brute force or is there a trick, as I dont want to knacker the rubbers trying.

    Thanks.

I removed these to fit a Givi adapter plate a few months ago. No trick to it - they just pull off. Looking at the strips now, the smallest '(p)lug' is at the pointy end - try prising that up first, then work your way along - it does take a bit of force with the larger (p)lugs... there's a larger (p)lug about 3" along from the pointy end and the last larger (p)lug at the blunt turned-over end, with a large diameter moulding in-between them.

    HTH.

They can snap before they come off!! I did mine when it was cold and the rubber was rock hard, broke two of the little rubber prongs off. If you want to keep them unspoilt you can look under the rack and poke them up through with a small screwdriver instead.

Anotherway to make sure their nice and soft is to keep the bike overnight somewhere warm. A heated shed will do or if your single or want to be you could try the kitchen or dining room.

    Re: Removing the back rack

Cheers everyone, It's going in for a service Wednesday so I might wait till then. The only reason I wanted to remove the rack was to check why my seat isn't sitting properly on the bike anymore. There seems to be too much play when its locked down. so I guess I can let them check for me.

    Regards.
