    Rear Shock

Just cleaning round after removing the engine....

Pulled a broken piece of rubber/plastic ring out from the rear shock spring....

Is this some sort of seal......if so...what now.....can it be replaced easily

I was thinking of undoing all the suspension links and regreasing them anyway....

    Nothing's ever straight forward eh........

Are you sure the shock is complete, including the o ring that is used to stop the damper from hitting the stop.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: Rear Shock

It's some sort of dust seal on top of a sleeve at the bottom.....I've glued it back together, then siliconed it in place.....OK for now.

Took the rear shock apart and buffed it up a bit and greased the suspension link.

I don't want to get too carried away as I need to fit the engine and find out if it's OK, but I don't want to ignore stuff I can do easily whilst the engine is out.

You could have popped down to Tippets and they may have had a new replacement. It does not look like it would cost too much and it is a prudent thing for suspension parts.
