    Front Sprocket

Just refitting the old one (new one+ retaining plate on order from David Silver).

I can't seem to get the sprocket retaining plate on....It's like the teeth are the wrong shape or won't line up...

The 'new' engine sprocket has less wear than the old one.....

Is it that the old retaining plate has the wear pattern from the original engine and that's preventing it from lining up properly.

I just want to fit them so's I can test the bike properly instead of just waiting for the new ones.

Have I got this right; old sprocket is on and old retaining plate will not fit.

If so the only think I can suggest is ensure that you are putting the retaining plate on in the correct orientation, i.e. the screws on the plate are off center so ensure that the screws will locate if the plate went on. It may be there is a slight buckle in the teeth.

Quick thought, ensure the splines are clean.

    Hope this helps....

take plate off.....take sprocket off. hold sprocket and line up screw holes.( should be " tide mark " on sprocket face where plate should sit ) don`t know if anyone else has noticed but edges of one side of plate are rounded. normally fit mine with flat edge to sprocket. hope that helps a bit cheers ade

got mine from local stealer. straight on no probs. can clearly see where chain naturally " beds " into rubber cushioning on old one.

    Thanks chaps,

Sprocket goes on fine....just can't get the plate to slip over the first line of teeth on to the keyed part.

Should it just slide on easily....Bear in mind that this sprocket and plate came off the old engine and I'm fitting them to the 'new' one (temporarily).

I'm trying not to force it in case I'm wrong and doing it incorrectly OR I can't get it off again without damaging something.

    Focking Ting !!!!

If they both fitted the other Shaft then they should both fit on the new shaft, or neither will.

    Re: Front Sprocket

It could be due to the wear pattern on the two shafts being slightly different.

    Re: Front Sprocket

The plate gets battered about a bit so it gets out of shape.
