    1) Remove the fairing. Not as difficult as it sounds.

    2) Remove the seat. Easy peasy.

    3) Remove the tank. There is the sender unit connection that lives under the left frame rail near where the nose of the seat would be. Don't go mad, you can unplug it, you just need to be careful.

    4) Unscrew the several large screws to get into the air filter cover to replace the filter.

    5) Put in new filter after cleaning out the housing and put all the screws back.

    6) Replacing the tank is a bit tricky as you have to line up the overflow and breather pipes. A block of wood to hold up the tank makes life a little easier.

    7) Do all the plugs except the front left one. These are the easy ones.

Unbolt, but do not remove the left hand radiator. This makes it easier to remove and replace the front left spark plug. Remember to re-fasten the radiator once you've finished.

    9) Do the oil and filter whilst you're there.

Oh, and get the Haynes manual - you'll save loads of time by using it. Maybe your local library can get hold of one for you?

Or bring it down to Galway.......

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Not sure the pieces you refer to top and bottom of the light? I have to take the fairing off in a oner as the screws which allow you to separate each fairing are fecked

Think about putting in a K&N you will not need to replace it again and only have to go in once a year to clean it out

Also take it easy with the spark plugs especially the front ones bugger to get too all the best. I never done a service on a bike before my TA so if I can do it sure you can.....

Just go easy with them and you'll be okay. Not ham-fisted are you??

Forgot to say that you'll also need to remove the headlight connector form the back of the bulb, as well as the side light connection. This last one is wrapped into the wiring loom almost, and if you didn't know, it would be easy to miss.

You will also have to remove the windshield and the black plastic instrument surround. The little plastic fasteners, for the surround, can be fiddly but again don't go mad and you'll be okay. If you don't know, a quarter turn with a screwdriver and you should then be able to pull the fasteners straight out.

    Have fun.

Do not forget to disconnect the indicators.

I do when I remove mine and almost always wonder why the fairing does not want to come off.
