    Re: which tank bag?

Finding the right tank bag for me , was a big pain .

I wanted small size , but with full potentials , like the big ones.
I liked to be secure, plus hard material as surrounding , plus easy to carry as hand bag .

In Greece , the " tank bag " its a nice reason to get ripped off , as the major brands ( made in China made stuff) , they offer them extremely overpriced .

I found this solution , that ended up , to be THE solution .

Yes I am hobbyist photographer too , and i would sign it , that this is a safe tang bag , to move around electronics as digital camera - cell phone - GPS .

    How about this'un?

At a reasonable euro price, found this Oxford Products 'First Time' magnetic tank bag, it fits just right on my 650 Translap, the bag being not too big or restrictive when steering, yet capacious enough to have been of good service during recent Sicilian campaign.
Magnets held securely fast at fastest velocity the TA achieved on Sicilian test track.
Took precautionary measure of Nikwax waterproofing the bag prior to first use (Nikwax lubricated the zips a treat too), so, natch, no rain to speak of during jaunt.

If you choose to get one - inspect zip stichings are up to Chinese manufacture Quality Control standards prior to purchase. I didn't, hence had to get Grandma's Singer out, to add the wee bit of leather at the all the way open end of the map holding zip bit. Quick-un-picked the daft logo thingies off as well ... designers, eh!

    Re: which tank bag?

Comment on Lidl / Aldi tankbags. They are not waterproof...not by a long shot...they are, like lots of other tank bags supplied with an elasticated waterpfoof cover. Anyone ever used one of these ?? I have and I bet nobody in Aldi or Lidl did Its like a hot air baloon at anything over 40mph. A motorcycle with an airbag. Its totally not fit for use on a motorcycle, fitted with the cover. The tankbags are perfect in the dry. Like a lot of other products such as clothing etc sold as "motorcycle products" ..perfect once it does'nt rain.
Can anyone recommend a good tank bag, that fits a Transalp that is suitable for the odd drenching without having to be poured out after?

    Re: which tank bag?

I got puzzled with the last message ..

Even my tank bag came with this " rain coat " ,
and its a normal accessory ... we talk about common naylon made tank bags .

Only divers suit are 99% waterproof .

Now about my tank bags " rain coat "
Its a well made one , and its hard to put it on , or take it off ,
in simple words , its a well designed one .
I trust it completely .. it protects my 600€ GPS unit .

By the way , I never get any motorcycle gadgets from Lidl ,
only kitchen paper , its cheap .

    Re: which tank bag?

Just a question but what tank bags are they that would fit the 600TA with the sticking out petrol cap besides the expensive Baglux tank protector/bag combo?

    Re: which tank bag?

The Oxford 'first time' tank bag looked the business, I tried it on the tank of my 700 and the magnets seem to sit above the plastic moulds on the side of the tank so I am not convinced that it will have a huge desire to cling on

Does anyone use one on a 700, does it stay in place?
