I'v been asked to lower my friends 2003 XL650 Transalp but I've been unable to find any lowering kits or linkages on the web or in my catalogues.

Can anyone help and point me in the right direction ????

I need to lower it about 2-3".

Many thanks in advance.

You can drop the front forks through the clamps a couple of cm's at most, but can wind down the rear pre load on the shock a fair few inches,do it gradually though as a few mm in the thread on the shock translates to a few cm in the drop of the bike.
Have they got the low seat? that drops the rider down a couple of inches with out messing with the suspension.

Ted,
Careful dropping the forks in the yokes as the mudguard can touch the frame when the forks become fully compress. Some engine bars (SW for one) can interfere with the mudguard when the forks are in the standard position.

Dropping the forks and reducing the preload is not going the enhance the handling thats for sure.

Try a lower seat.

Just another thought, if the bike has a centre stand you will have a problem using it, and the already low clearance will disappear. Using the side stand could be a problem also.

Even with a standard set up and centre stand, bumping up a kerb can result in a sudden stop and a dive over the handle bars. Not nice to experience but hugely funny to watch. :toothy9:
