Givi top box plate on a 700.

Has anyone fitted a universal Givi plate directly onto the 700's carrier or do you have to buy a model specific one?
I've looked at it but there seems to be a curve across the original carrier!

you found your way here then

im not sure about the new 700 but the universal plates are usually fairly good to mount across a range of bikes.

you could get over the curve situation by making up some spacers to raise the plate by 4-5mm

Ive got the model specific plate on my TA700 - sits up about 1cm at the front and levels off to just 5mm at rear as the original plate slopes a bit. The plate fixes at the 4 corners and so far has been fairly secure without squeeks, just needed tightening once worn in as such. Can imagine the uni plate working as well due to the sloe and the curve you mentioned.
TA700 2010 - Givi full set, Centre Stand, Scotoiller with LubeTube, Honda Tall Screen, Givi Crashbars, OEM Heated Grips, Fenda Extenda, Bar Risers, SSteel Spokes, Arrow Race-Tech DarkLine Exhaust, even bigger smile!!

TLD 2010 - 600 miles, 18 hours travelling, 4 hours sleep and no pint of guinness!! Must go back for that....

I originally fitted the standard plate to my 700 rack, but it needed to be modified to fit. It did work OK, but, it is difficult to get the seat on and off as the rack and box protrude over the seat area. You had to bend the seat to get it off!

Buying the 700 specific rack solved the problem.

    Hello Mort,

I have a Givi V46 topbox on my Transalp 2008 - I'm pretty sure it was supplied with a mounting plate specifically for the TA 700.

I certainly had no problems fitting it and the seat can be removed without any problems... The nice thing is the Givi topbox can be removed very easily from the mount...

Re: Givi top box plate on a 700.

As another forum member has said I have the model specific Givi adapter plate and a V46 topbox. Seat can be removed no probs and Givi is good quality.
