    TA 700 8000 miles service

I took the 700 for its 8000 mile service. £289 thank you very much. Lucky that's only every 8000 miles. And the steering head bearing are ferked. What is this, a BMW F650 in disguise? According to the dealer, they are seeing this all too often these days. There's a lot of speed humps round this way and that means curtians for head beraings. The pthole left after the winter don't make thing much better. At least this will be covered by the warrenty this time, but I don't fancy a £200 bill in another 8000 miles.
Also, the rear pads will need replacing soon. Does anyone know where Ican get them cheaper than paying Honda prices?

obviously hit and miss with dealers
it will be no consolation that I got 8000 mile service on TA700 yesterday
including new rear pads for under £168

I did ask for a quote before I took it in

Speed humps everywhere so steering head bearings must be selling well.
For Brake pads you could try David Silvers or Wemoto's. But do not get EBC.

I think some of them add a slight increase to cover the costs of the property rent and bills, Wages etc. Therefore some charge more than others.

Re: TA 700 8000 miles service

The dealer told me that the 8000 mile services are expensive due to the amount of stuff that has to be removed to get at the valves. He said it is ridiculous that a middle weight should cost more to service than a superbike.
Then again, if you have a superbike, the cost of things like tyres will probably even it out over the same period

Re: TA 700 8000 miles service

I just had the 16000 mile service last week, new pads all round and it came in just short of £450. Who said bikes are cheaper than cars!
Still I'd probably have quit my job by now if I had to commute that far by car...

The pads probably added about £90 to the service, plus the fitting time. I do mine myself
