    Alp Fuel Consumption.

    Folks
A standard XL650V with a normal standard tank. I filled it 2 days ago to the point where it wouldn't accept even a tiny drop more petrol. Did 140 miles and now the needle is just touching the red. A bit of motorway riding, a bit of town and a bit of A road stuff. Not riding too hard, just the occasional handful but mostly being fairly sensible.

    Is this about right??

    Chris

I get about 190 out of mine B4 I NEED to refuel, general progressive riding The fuel gauge stays put for about 100 miles then drops like a stone
I have pushed 200 at one point but my rule is; fill up at about 170miles in the UK and look for fuel at 130miles in the EU, as the stations are always closed

    Re: Alp Fuel Consumption.

I always got around 170 per full tank until I changed the exhaust and the airfilter (from original to K&N). I also did a normal oil change as per servicing and now I'm getting a comfortable 200. As with other comments my guage says full and then plummets but the filter and exhaust have really made a difference to my economy and performance.

The only difficulty I had after changing the filter was getting it to start but altering the idling speed sorted that out.

Sounds a bit low - I get 170 - 180 before HAVING to fill up. I once decided my riding had been sedate and so I would have a few more miles past the 182 indicated on the mileometer.

Pushing an alp up the off ramp for the Green Man Roundabout from the A12 is a right bundle of laughs let me tell ya

    Lesson learned.

Wow, 182 miles requiring 19.3L is 42.8 mpg.

I am getting 52-54 mpg, I must ride like a gir* i can't think what . In my daily commute there is very little stop start and I am not giving it some, well in one stretch I do, just can not break the habit

In my mind I use 11 miles per litre thus think about fuel at 180. I only ever use the fuel gage in comparison with the milage i.e if it was in the red at 140 I would dive for fuel as its not normally there at that milage.

Chris1201 do not worry to much about where the needle is, wait and see how much fuel she takes and work out your consumption

    Hope this helps

I will usually fill up at 150 miles and although by that time the gauge is on the red it only ever takes 15 liters, maximum. My overall average from when I got the bike is slightly over 45 MPG. I have changed from original to a piper cross air filter.

My TA 650 returns between 8 to 14 miles per litre depending on all the variable's. Mostly I see 12 to 13 MPL

On my daily 20 miles each way commute it gets 13 miles per litre, which in old money is 59 MPG.

It has the header pipes cleaned up, foam air filter, hot box removed and jetted to suit.

My 06 650 TA manages 59 mpg without much deviation. Fitted with Pipercross air filter, 16T front sprocket, 47t rear, fully synthetic oil, Scottoiler and Anakees.

Jeeezzz ... I need to do something soon about this . 42mPG is about the best I ever see, which is diabolical when you think that most modern small cars come with at least have that again!!!!

Kens post reminded me, I forgot to mention I am running ta600 gearing on my 650 15 front 47 rear.

I rarely fill up before 200 miles. I have a couple of extra holes in the tank filler neck to help top it off. I would love to have 300 mile range
