I might try some WD40 all over the pads & disc, I am sure that will sort it out!!
put a very very small amount of copper grease on the pins and on the back of the pads,it will disappear. It's caused by vibration.

I've had a feel of the cable and it appears to have a fair bit of play in it, does this need tightening up?

Also the pedal is having to pushed further down than it should be so I'm going to bleed the caliper also.

I've recently changed the wheel, and put the old disc and calliper back on - any other ideas?
sounds like master cylinder woes,or ****e trapped behind the rod that pushes into the master cylinder.
you did mount the caliper on the swingarm properly? it's not slapping down when you brake?

So, that's not a cable but a hydraulic line.
quite right........so called " play in cable " is there in order for caliper being abled to pivot up off disc when renewing pads etc and when adjusting chain ( slide back wheel backwards and caliper moves in unison with it, hence grooved slider on caliper bracket for it to move along good luck

It could also be due to the adjustment of the pedal, it is adjusted from behind the frame, locking nut and screw if the pivot point where the pedal and rod meet is dry it could "Crack" as the pedal is depressed.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: Rear brake pedal noise

On the subject of pedal noise i have the same but found he noise could be a multitude of things since where the pedal rod connects with the brake pump clicks because of he gap. Also found that the pads rattle & stick(Yes i know they probably need changing) also the whole rear brake assembly has a few mm movement which I'm not sure it's meant to since the Front caliper is bolted on tight?

    Is all that normal?
