SW Motech panniers

Does anyone have these on a TA (600)? I'm trying to work out what is needed - is it possible to adapt Givi racks (what I've got...) to take SW Motech panniers? There's some kind of adaptor kit but I can't work out what it's for Any advice/help appreciated!

Hi ChrisH,
I had the exact same idea and exactly the same questions?? I ditched the idea of using the SW Motech frames, as I heard they arn't that good and anyway you can buy the buttons which appear to fit onto the Givi racks see this link http://www.mo-tech.de/produkt/?produkt_id=1894 without needing to use the adaptor plate.

In the end I haven't done it (yet), because the funds situation changed and I couldn't get any response out of the French supplier. I contacted SW Motech direct who then contacted their supplier to tell them to contact me.... I'm still waiting 3 months later!!! so have lost my impetus to do it for now.

But anyway, I can't see why this mounting kit can't be easily adapted to fit straight on to the Givi rack and then mounting the panniers direct. When you look at the adaptor kit plate the buttons look to me to be in the same place as on the Givi racks, it is only where the locking plate fits on that the rack I feel would need drilling to fit.

Basically I felt SW didn't want to tell me this was the case, maybe I'm wrong?

Look into it further before you buy and maybe someone else can shed some more light on the situation, but I can't see it being a big problem to fit them direct to the Givi's and it's what I'll be doing when funds permit..... that is of course if I can get SW Motech supplier in France to actually sell me any!!

Good luck and keep us all posted.

Cheers

Potski

Re: SW Motech panniers

You came to the same conclusion as I did Potski- just be handy to know for sure... not particularly interested in spending a load more on a frame that's basically the same as the one I already got. Maybe someone actually done it?
