Marmite!! you either love'em or hate them, although a mate of mine took the piss how ugly they were is actually coming round to the idea that they are pretty cool looking now... maybe it's time to buy an uglier bike.

Yeah please, Tenere is a minger even by my standards (but i mean the new version) that is all plastic right??

I've fitted crash bars and motech metal bash plate, so I loose the plastic look on the new alp.. it's funky and I like it. (some call it poor taste)

So this would be plasticky in the same way as a Varadero... fairing, side panels, undercowl, mudguards...

...but not plasticky in the way of the Tenere... fairing, side panels, undercowl, mudguards, fuel tank, scuff protectors...

In my opinion, Tenere is at least as plasticky, but in a more cobby, ruggedy way...

I like the looks of my XL, do have to say that the head on view is pretty pants though. The main thing is it rides well!

tenere fuel tank is a 22ltr steel one, and the side bits are kind of sacrificial scuff guards designed to be replaced but i get the point. i didnt mean plasticky as having loads of it, as you rightly point out i own one of the most slabsided pigs out there, i meant it just felt "plasticky", groaned and squeaked when you sat on it, the side panels/tank thingies move around a lot etc and seemed quite thin and bendy. i just didnt like that aspect of it but to ride it was v.good, as much oomph and none of the wrist aching vibes of a f800gs
