    Wet Weather Gear

    Hi
The TA is pretty good for rain but......I have some textile clothing, not expensive but reasonable Buffalo. The jacket seems Ok but in one of those recent showers the trousers let in water all along the upper leg and I had that dripping feeling from around the knees trickling down (no comments on that please). Any suggestions as to more relaible leggings.
    Ta

    Re: Wet Weather Gear

    I think that's a common problem.
Even my expensive BMW GoreTex trousers do that to some extent.
(Takes a while, and some heavy raining, but eventually they do)

I got my self a set of "cheep" water proof trousers.
(No membrane, no textile, just a thick layer of plastic coated fabric)
I just put them on over my Textile trousers when the raining gets to heavy.

My waterproofs are also Buffalo and in heavy rain I find they leak from the crotch area, I think it is due to the seams not being 100%.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: Wet Weather Gear

Has anyone ever tried seam sealer as used in tents on any bike clothing?

I don't have any water ingress with my clothing but I do regularly wash and reproof with the Nikwax Tek Wash (green) and Nikwax Tek Wash-in Direct Waterproofer (purple) - seems to do the trick fine - stood up to 9+ hrs solid rain on TLD08 from Gretna to Lands End

02 RD07a RWB, Powerbronze tall screen, Remus Grand Prix, TT crash bars, TT pannier frame, Zega style panniers, Alpos top box,TT bar risers, TT headlamp guard, Heated grips, mainstand, Heidenau K60s for road and light offroad, TKC80s for the dirty stuff, Scottoiler, Autocomm, TT Zumo mount, Zumo 550 and most of all A BIG GRIN !!! Oh, and a very nice RD04 HRC coloured Marathon Replica

I have Akito Desert Textile pants. They do the job, they have a membrane inside them and after riding down the N1 in Ireland with sheet rain I was the driest one in the contingent.

    yeh
3 layer gortex the way to go or have a look at your local yacht chandlers as they all seem to have sails on this time of year.

I use fabsil on the jacket do it every year before the autumn rain comes in and never leaked.

you could always use a large pair on incontinence pants of the local nursing home for the wet crotch

    Re: Wet Weather Gear

I swear by the Hein gericke jacket and trousers I have..... never let a drop in. The Jacket is a bit too effecient though .. even with the winter liner out ... on the english rally last week there were times I felt I was slowly cooking from the inside out.

Equally, I have a dirt cheap pair of waterproof overtrouser... they make your legs sweat, but never let a drop of water in either: £10 off ebay.
