    Mx mudguard on trannie question

Im prepping my bike for future endeavoures and wanna stick a mx mudguard on me trannie 'cos i hear stories of mud plugging the fender so tight that the wheel gets stuck in it.

Is this easily done or are there a few catches? Also what do you do with the little brace thats currently under the existing fender? does it stay put or can it be taken off?

Also the spokes on my back wheel ping a bit when i'm wheeling me beast in and out of its parking hole. I'm guessing it needs tightning up. A second opinion would be much appreciated. (Possible prices too please!)

    Thanks guys!

    Youre all awesome.

Re: Mx mudguard on trannie question

I fitted an Moto X & a Super Moto type one on my '91 TA and had to put spacers in between the fender and the mounting points on the bottom of the triple clamp (use the holes that hold the little plastic filler plate in place to mount the fender). Tjis helped stop the fender rubbing on the front fairing. I supose the same could be achieved by using some kind of metal plate to maintain the required angle.

I left the metal fork brace in place cos I couldn't find an aftermarket fork brace to replace it. Didn't really catch much crud when off roading, but I don't tend to ride into the really sticky stuff, even with TKC 80's on the bike.
I think Mudwiz ran his 650TA without the fork brace in place and he realy did take his machine where no TA was meant to go .
Or it might have been one of the other mega-off-road Guru's that frequent this forum that did that .

    Just my mutterings.

I thought something like that might be required, Cheers for that steve.

BTW where did you get hold of your mudguards? had a quick look online and couldnt really find any. Found lots of mudguard braces.

As Steve T said there easy to fit just make sure you have enough spacers in there to stop it rubbing (i think mine had something like 30-40 washers). Personally i left the fork brace since it didn't seem to get in the way. Also since going back to the standard mudguard i did notice the MX one blocks a lot of the headlight out on the road.

As for front Mudguards i used to have one of these fitted in black:
    ..:: Polisport ::..

It's a old pic since bike no longer looks like that but it gives you an idea:

    Hi Yahoo,

The second ones an Acerbis Super Moto. I've "trimmed" the rear end of it to stop it interfering with the engine guard.

    I'll e-mail you soonest.

Re: Mx mudguard on trannie question

Hi I bought a piece of hollow metal rod about 10 mm dia from B&Q for peanuts and cut two lengths to make spacer so that mudguard misses fairing, worked a treat but ido need a mudguard brace though as mudguard is probably flapping about but i cant see it when im on bike

Good plan scottee, I'll see how steve's fender fits and probably steal ur idea

Washed the beast today in readyness for a bit of fettling. Then promptly took it for a spin and made it dirty. It's a vicious cycle.
