you can go the halfords route,perfectly adequate.
you can have alook through opie oils we get a discount on xrv (you'd have to look up the opie oils threads or Competition: Win a car. Plus a special discount until Wednesday 15th July
myself, I use rockoil,best all rounder and a lot of race teams swear by it as do most of the trades,and it's not overly expensive for something that protects your engine.
The oil question is as wide and varied in it's answers as the tyre choice question,in the end it boils down to personal preferences and priorities.
David Silver Spares sell 3.7 (USA Gallon) litres of Honda 10/40 GN oil. It is SJ spec as required for the transalp, cost £13.75. I think it is plus VAT. Buy two cans with filters and you should get 3 oil changes. approx £17 per oil change.
High milage riders may change the oil less often or maybe the filter every other time.
