    SatNav Bracket

Can anyone recommend a bracket to attach a tomtom rider to my xl700?

    Cheers in anticipation!

Adam - couple of options here !

Touratech do some nice ones, but pricey (I have the Zumo mount and bracket - excellent). The mount bracket for the GPS mounts is separate and fits on the bars. There's two version - one fits on bar heighteners, one doesn't !

Looking at the site you've about 6 mounts to chose from for the Tom Tom !

Honda do a mount for their version of the Zumo. You can order the bracket separatly, and mount most sat nav's onto it. Fits onto the middle of the handlebar. It's pretty basic -looked like a piece of bent metal on the computer screen !

    Cheers

    hi,
only one company for me ,thats RAM mounts simply the best . check out ebay for good deals.

On my xl650 v2 I mounted a garmin nuvi 550 via ram short arm above the clocks behind the fairing , so its in direct line of site and runs off dedicated electric feed.

mounted via ram base plate on shock absorbing rubber mount with a strong support aluminium bar undeneath the black clock cowling thingy.

sorry no pics but looks similar to another members older garmin mount

    Re: SatNav Bracket

Concur with the recommendations on RAM Mounts. If you change your Sat Nav you can usually get mounts for your new one without having to change all the other hardware.

I get mine from GPS Warehouse who also sell waterproof power leads that integrate with the RAM mounts.

    Re: SatNav Bracket

I vote for the Ram mount. I have just bought the Tomtom Rider2 that comes with the Ram mount. I have attached it just to the right of the handlebar bracket which positions to Tomtom just over the top of the centre of the bars.

Nice and sturdy, and if you want to, you can remove the top part of the mount and you are just left with a knobbly bit.

I took power from the side light by cutting the wire and attaching a block connector...

    Re: SatNav Bracket

You do not say if it is the rider or rider 2.
If the former then a Touratech type of mount is best due the power problems with the original mounting being iffy.
The rider 2 is ideal with a ram mount, as it has a different mounting.
