Air filter box housing on hondal xl 700 transalp

Can anyone tell me how to remove the cover from the air filter box housing on the 2008 Honda XL700 Transalp.

I removed the eight screws on the box and removed a bolt from the front of the box near the handle bars but I couldnt open it...even tried to prise it open with a screw driver.

I will appreciate your attention with this and any advice...pointers etc.

There are 8 screws around the edge of the cover and also 1 in the MIDDLE. sounds like you missed that one???

Thanks for that answer about the air filter box.

One more question...if the screw in the centre of the box opens it.....where do I find the screw for synchronising the carburretors ???.

I am using a HAYNES manual for Honda Transalps but it doesnt include the XL700 model....thus why I did not open that middle bolt.....afraid to cos thought it was for the carbs.

Appreciate your help with that question.

GreyAlp is Spot on. No carbs on the 700 its EFi. As for the manual can recommend the Honda workshop manual, Pure Filth Available from Mr honda. I Posted to a thread about it so use my User name in Search to find the details, Part number etc. costs about £25.

Problem with the EFI is it usually needs a laptop to adjust anything.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
