    riding the baby Translp

Video of my 1993 Transalp400V doing some corner carving.

While I'm here, does anyone have a battery type and model number for my bike? Same as TA600 I believe. Haynes is no help, present battery too small terminals reversed. It was likely good luck that the little battery is dead. Now I have to buy a new battery.

    Nice road.
How come it is so empty?
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: riding the baby Translp

Road isn't always empty, some vehicles were cropped out. In fact lots of good stuff was cropped by accident, the camera for some reason was shutting off after about 5 minutes, didn't know that. Heck I missed two times when I chirped both tires braking hard heh heh.

The road is kind of a strange one, right in town, across the top of an in town hill. So not many people take it, it's mostly used by bikers having fun.

Plenty of photos of the TA400V here:
    Transalp

I still need a battery, does anyone know a Yuasa battery number that will fit the 600TA? I think the 400 takes the same battery but Haynes etc are no help. 10-12 Amp-Hr was all I could get from Haynes.

By the way I could have got more top speed on the straights, but that ain't my thing and it would increase my chances of a big ticket if caught. The main thing for me was cranking through the corners. I'm not really familiar with that road yet so I had to take it easy, plus there were some construction crews out whacking weeds along the sides I had to be careful of, came up on one crew around a blind corner...

    Hi Jim.
A Deta EB12A-A is what I have in my 94 600 which is the same as yours I think. I've had it for at least four years and it's still OK.
I think the Yuasa number is YB12A-B but I'm not sure.

Apart from that Deti's page gives some useful info:
    Transalp FAQs

    as does ADV rider:
Normal Transalp alternator output? - ADVrider

and I also found this 14Ah but it does look like a tight fit:
    BATTERY YUASA YB14-B2 HONDA XL600V TRANSALP 87-93

Great video. I'm going to make it to Japan one of these days and that just spurs me on. Looks like some of the WRC roads. Good luck with your search.

Jim, you've got some neat goodies on your website there. I could be tempted by one of those Powerbar attachments at some stage inthe future...

    Re: riding the baby Translp

    YB12 A-B is the one!

I think I've sold the Transalp though. Just picked up a 1990 VFR 750.

And here's a funny fact (ok not really funny but strange), the Viffer, the Transalp and the Africa Twin all take the same battery, yes the YB12 A-B fits them all.

Just ordered a new battery for the new owner. Picking up Viffer next weekend, yay!

I'll still be around, since THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL I'M EVER SELLING MY AFRICA TWIN, heh heh.

Got a GoPRO video camera just today, can't wait to hit the parkway with it on the Africa Twin, stand by. I am using a rollbar mount on the right signal stalk. Puts the camera in clear air just on the right side, just off the fairing (stubby signals).
