    Oil FIlter

Hiya, i got a replacement oil filter for my 2001 transalp - only it seems shorter (stubbier) than the one thats on the bike - seems to be the same diametre though. Will this be a problem or is it just different filters are different sizes, as long as the screw in bit fits? Thanks, TB

PS - got the replacement one from David Silvers so i'm assuming they sent the right one!

    If it looks like this:

then it's the right one and it'll be fine. I don't know anything about different sizes or whether it matters. I've used different makes and they seem to be the same size.

I have had long one's and short one's. I just fitted them and watched for the Oil Pressure light to go out (and stay out). Been OK, I seem to always get the short one's now - which are easier to fit as they clear the frame easier with the removal tool on.

I have ordered the Tree pack from David Silvers and the part number on the filters is 15010 - MCE - H51 They are the short ones but look to fit the bike easier, more access space.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: Oil FIlter

The one you have tara is the old one,no different from the new one,the part number you have has been superceded by the part number stumpy has posted, nothing to worry about just old stock being sent out. david silvers buys up old stock from all over the world,he'll buy from dealers who close etc so he's just bought a load of old filters and is sending them instead of the newer ones,it's no big deal they don't go off.

The last ones Got from DS were rusty inside, so maybe very old stock, not much of a discount either.

I would have sent that back steve, personally i use hiflo or champion,i find they work as well if not better as the rubber seal seems to be more substansive on the champion and the hiflo have never given me any worries.
