WOW ! Check out August Bike Mag P42

Having discussed the "Image Problem" of the Transalp with Doug i thought i should point you all to Page 42 of the August Bike Mag

    Anybody seen it ?

A shame that there is only one pic of this "Hybridalp" but boy it look "The Dog's"

If you aint got the mag / dont want to buy just take a peek in WH Smiff.

Looks like a VERY NICE piece of work

Re: WOW ! Check out August Bike Mag P42

Saw it the Tesco mag section.
    Looks great.
How is it to change the fairing on a TA?
I can't quite fit my legs in under the fairing (I've a 650) and have to move my feet backwards to tuck my knees in, so when I want to break or change gear I have to move them forwards again. It's starting to bug me and I'm thinking of changing to a 600 for comfort, but if it was possible to put a 600 fairing on a 650 I'd be over the moon.
Is it possible?? (as you may guess, my mechanical expertise is limited )
    Reunited with my trannie......

    APOLOGIES FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING:

This is my photo in "BIKE"....HOWEVER....it is NOT a photo of my Africa Twin/Transalp hybrid.

The machine in the photo is Jonah Street's #25 Dakar bike from the 2007 Dakar race. It is a KTM 525 modded by RallyPanAm for the Dakar. I was not able to correct this quickly since "BIKE" doesn't arrive on the left coast of the US for some weeks after you blokes first see it. Since there was no photo here and "BIKE" did not include a copy of the photo in question when they asked permission to publish it, I had no idea that the information was in error.

I notified Khal at "BIKE" that the information was incorrect.

Many riders have joined a grass-roots effort to assist Rally PanAm in their Dakar efforts. The organization, know as the "Riff-Raff" provides additional sponsor funds to assist the team. It's an international club

see: Rally Pan Am - Sponsors

Membership is closed right now but if you're interested, send Rob an e-mail or wait until the fall rolls around. I'm certain our assistance will be necessary again.

In the months following the race, the team holds a large party for the Riff-Raff folks. At times they allow us to try out the race bikes. This is how the photo came into being.

    The photo in question:

....and a photo of my AT/TA hybrid:

As you can see the two machines are quite different. Sorry to disappoint.

Also, for those of you who will ask, Honda never imported the Africa Twins into the USA. Some of us Yanks have discovered that many parts will interchange and it's easier (due to our Dept of Transportation and Import laws) to build an AT from a Transalp than is it to import the bike as a whole.

So, there you have it. The real story

Get Custom handlebars, then you can sit on the pillion seat and still reach the controls without straining yourself.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
