    Too warm?

    Not the weather !!

I've noticed that my TA appears to get too warm. It's an '07 650 V6 with nothing modified, 8000 miles.

You know the smell and sound like the cracking of something that has been over heated when it's cooling, well its like that. The temperature needle sits just up from the cold line so it's not lack of coolant.I know the exhaust will sound like that but this sounds like its about the area of the head on the engine. I have checked for cables, pipes etc touching the head but see nothing untoward. Brake discs are cool etc.

    So any ideas?
    Anyone else had these symtoms?

    Maybe I'm just paranoid !

    Graeme

    Re: Too warm?

    I have a 650v6 2007, just like yours..

The temp gauge sits at normal when riding,

But when I get home, I hear grumbling , cracking noises also..

Guessing its the engine just cooling down.contracting after expanding with the heat of running..

Normal I believe .. I am sure someone asked this before here and got the "Its Normal" answer..

My '04 Transalp is the same.
The smell is from the dust and particles that accumulate on the engine, The creaks and cracks are the different metals cooling at different rates, Listen to a car when it has just parked up after a run.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

To put your mind at rest you could use one of these, It will tell you the temerature of the radiators, when the fan cuts in, and you can get a handle of the engine temperature in relation to the temperature guage. great for piece of mind.
