    Wg Cdr,

If you're going to be pedantic stick 'originally' inbetween 'I' and 'had' and you should be able to work out I had to go slightly over budget! By about £3000 actually!

Nevermore, when I had my test on the demonstrator I did feel it was a bit high for me (174cm). But the bike I bought has had the forks raised by about 10mm and that seems to have made a fairly big difference, so with doing something like that and with a bit of time on the bike I'm sure you will be ok.

Parcival, just managed 60mpg with mine on about 3 trips out on back roads. Fairly gentle stuff but not really trying to get best MPG. I'm sure by trying on a long run at legal speeds you could get near to 70mpg.

    I've decided - XL700 it shall be.
With all the reviews and small warranty issues, I did not here of any brake downs in the middle of no where (unlike all the other models/manufacturers).

Most of you and most of my freinds said is a confidence issue and that I need to put miles on it ... I hope we can all agree and make a small compromise and say that I'll put Kiloneters on it .
Hell ya, the bike is made to ride not to stop and keep it on a stand still.

As for decision making - I will gust get it with regulat seat hight for better confort while touring and if within one season I don't get used to it I'll get a lower one.

Crash bars from SW-Motech, engine guard from SW-Motech and Givi touring screen ordered.

It is just a matter of getting the dam plates and get it registered (not the easyest thing when you're a english speaking outlander in Germany).

If it doesn't work out I'll just blame the british

Good luck to you Nevermore. I've just done 1500 Miles (2300Kms) on mine going to Munich and back, I noticed driving into London today just how different my riding style etc was and what bounces etc to take notice of and what to ignore.

Before Munich I'd only ever done about 1800 miles on a bike ever ! So it was all a bit of a learning curve. I'm 6'5" (1.95M) can easily have both feet down with bent legs and still can have 'issues' when the bike leans at a stop. In fact in the middle of Sloane Square is the only place I've dropped it.

I was amazed how sympathetic the bus drivers were But then they probably saw the Cherokee that made it happen
Herzlichen Glückwunsch mit der neuen Motorrad
