    2nd Test ride on a 700 Alp.

I took a wee test ride on a 700 alp two weeks ago , and now find myself booked in for a second test tomorrow.

Could this be indicative of a pending change back to the Red side???

Would I be welcomed back or ridiculed for allowing myself to be seduced by the long legged Austria temptress??

It does say that the 700 has something.
Even if you cannot put your finger on it.

I had a budget of £2000 and had half decided on a KLE500 - pretty poor bike but cheap. Tried a demonstrator 700 out of the blue and was just blown away. Within a week I had one!!

Yes, I used to run a 650 Alp and was stunned at how much more poke the 700 had - a lot more than the 30cc increase would suggest !!!

Could it also be the power delivery is more relaxed than the KTM? Therefore you feel more at ease while riding.

The KTM does not make you feel uneasy - in fact I would suggest the KTM feels more "flickable" and lighter than the Transalp.

Most of my buddies think I'm mad , I can't quite put my finger on it , there is just something about the Transalp that appeals - I loved my 650 version and changed to the KTM for more power - but I don't go places any quicker on the KTM ??

Well you could always do a straight swap, my 650 'Alp for your KTM, if it makes you happy I'm willing to make that sacrifice

Re: 2nd Test ride on a 700 Alp.

I know where WeeJack is coming from. There is something about the Transalp, I dunno, if you feel ill, you're riding home from work in the pouring rain, the TA sort of just takes you there. No vices, no hassle. It wont go wrong, if you are late with the service no problem.

IMO probably one of the best all rounders, a very capable bike. I found it just lacked that spark I get with the BMW (or obviously a KTM) but you don't always want the spark, sometimes you want just trouble and vice free transport.

Would I change back, not at the moment. may even go more orange in the future But I can see as my joints start to creak and the rest of my hair goes grey ......

.....not that I'm saying you're getting old WeeJack

oops time to get my coat.
