Post TA 700 crash bars, bash plate vs. warranty

    Hi,

Maybe it's a silly question. I will have brand new TA 700 and I plan on installing crash bars and a small bash plate. Now - how does it relate to the Honda warranty? I mean - I will have to remove some plastic fairing, tighten some clamps with appriopriate torq...

Re: TA 700 crash bars, bash plate vs. warranty

Never had a problem or wasn't mentioned when I took it back to the dealers for a service, and I have the SW Motech crash bars and metal bash plate fitted.. Damn sight easier to remove by the mechanic than the plastic standard job!

The problem I had is when I did an online quote for insurance and thought I'd be honest and ticked the mod box and highlighted what I had fitted and my insurance quote shot up How the hell can it cost more to insure a bike when all I've added more protection against damage ?????

The insurance would have to cover any damages to your expensive protection pieces Or - added protection - will drive offroad - more likely damage. Or any other wicked thinking

OT - anyone heard of current Transalps shipping delay of 2-3 weeks by Honda?

The only reason they could put the premium up is if they are saying they are covering the crash bars also. In a similar way to if you had non-standard alloys on a car...

Also if you mention to them that you have mods, they will assume that you will probably have some performance enhancing mods also. A wrong assumption to make, but insurers make it nevertheless.

It may well be worth speaking to a human on this one rather than the online system.

Called Carole Nash last week and added; Fogs, Crash bars, Ardcase panniers and racks, and 3000 miles to my existing annual policy

No added premium.... I nearly fell off my chair. I stated bike value had increased by £900 and added the miles and aside from a document reissuing fee there was no charge...

My dealer fitted (I supplied them) the SW Motech bars I have and never said a word about warranty.
