    Re: Transalp 700 MPG

If I start with a full tank on a Monday, I do not even think about fuel till the Thursday Night.
I reckon I could do full week but do not want the hassle of the worry.
4 days is 160 miles and from memory it takes about under 13 litres.
These 160 miles are stop start commuting/weaving for about 3/4 and as fast as I can go M-Way for the rest.
    The MPG is very good.
I used to do the full week without adding fuel on my previous DV700 but it had a bigger tank.

I am afraid that life is too short for me to take exact values.

Thumbs up Re: Transalp 700 MPG

I recently went to Sweden with my Dad, and we filled up a the same time.

His nearly new, 09 XL700V managed a repeatable 75 mpg, luggaged up (but solo riding), if we cruised at 50mph (my little XR was the limiting factor: I did not want to rev it endlessly all day). At higher speeds, and more "thrash-happy" riding (all relatively speaking: it was my Dad), anything down to 60mpg was possible.

If you were heavy handed, I'd guess 50mpg, but that is pretty good if you are wringin a bike's neck, IMO!!

    Thinking only.

I am not getting 50mph from the @ with 17 front 43 rear, and I think fuel economy is going to be a key factor for the future.

I should say I guess my biggest mileage will be motorways at 80-85, maybe 90mph.

That is where I think the BMW GS 800 may have the edge.

    Re: Transalp 700 MPG

Admittedly mines a 650 but at a constant 80-90 fully luggaged on the m6 back from scotland etc i was getting a constant 52 mpg. on the way up we did 209 miles and i put in 18.75 litres and we were constantly at between 60-80 that equates to about 50-51,on the twisty stuff I did with mark on the saturday i did over 100 miles and averaged 47mpg.I averaged 80+ all the way to the north circular and round to the ace at 40 and back to northampton for 10 litres=63mpg un-luggaged.
    I've got a 16 front and 45 rear.

might just need a tune-up,balanced the carbs lately?

Yep, both bikes. Get better mpg from the re-sprocketed one.

The RD04 never claimed to be good on mpg.

    Re: Transalp 700 MPG

I run an application to record all mileage and MPH on my 700 over the last 3000 miles (it saves me having to guess / remember)

I have ridden a mix of A roads and twisty stuff, light, loaded etc speeds vary but cruising 80 mph or so.

    55mpg average or there abouts.
