    Document bag on new Alp

Picked up my new Alp yesterday. Yeeehaaa!

Got home, read the manual cover to cover and it states that there is supposed to be what it calls a "document bag" in the space under the seat by the tool kit. There's a piece of velcro stuck there, presumably to hold the bag, but but no bag. I'm going back to the dealer asap to ask about it but can any other readers who've bought new Alps recently confirm whether they had this on their new bikes and what exactly it is? Not perhaps a very important point, I guess it's just some cheap plastic envelope of some kind with the other side of the velcro stuck to it, but if it's meant to be there I want it.

    Thanks.

A regular problem. Mine was missing too. Dealer ordered it from Honda but was told 3 month wait so he took it from the next one he had for sale in the showroom. Maybe you bought that one? Sorry.

Well Firstly - excellent news on your new bike pictures???

WRT document bag: it is as you suspected a plastic envelope with the other side of the velcro stuck to it. It appears to be an after thought and not of much practical use. so don't get too excited in anticipation

Come to think of it... Mine was missing and the dealer took it from their demonstrater....

Maybe there is only one; and we are all sharing it.

Thanks for the replies. Confirmed what I thought so I now know for sure it should have been there when I ask the dealer for it, they can't give me any bull about it being only for the Isle of Wight market and even then only when there's a K in the month.

ABC don't get exited about it, it's really is not worth the hassle, the bag is as you have ussumed a plastic bag with the other half of the velcro on it.

It's designed to keep you service book etc under the seat , I would advise you not to do that, it gets very damp and dusty in there. It may be useful in countries where you are legally obliged to keep all your docs with the vehicle at all times.

I keep my docs indoors and carry them in my pocket when I go for a service, I dont use the stupid plasic bag.

If you really want it PM me your address and you can have my unused one.

But trust me it is not worth the hassle !!!!!
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

Thanks for the offer Jack. I know it's no big deal and I don't intend to keep the service book or any documents there, for the reason you give. But its absence annoyed me even if I never want use it. It's just that I expect a new bike to be perfect in accordance with the manual, even for a minor thing like that.

I don't seem to be able send personal messages to others here, anyone know why?

I see, thanks. Didn't realise that.

Out riding this morning, I thought I might as well visit my dealer over this bag thing. The guy there told me that the owner's manual comes in the bag and it's such a tight fit that the bag often splits when they pull it out and they then throw it away.

Anyway, he did what has occurred with others here, took one off another bike in the showroom so I now have it. As I suspected and others already knew, it's a piece of junk which I'll probably never use but nevertheless I like to have things complete.

    Hello ABC,

The so called document bag simply contains your handbook / Service Manual... It should be black with two velco strips on one side.

Mine was handed to me by the suppling dealer together with the bike keys and a second wallet that contained some other information about the bike... I'm guessing if you have the Manual you may alos have the so called wallet...

What colour bike did you opt for ?

    Slapper Hackett
