    No choke required

    Hi All
Ive had my 99 xl600v for a year now, commuting every day. Can't fault it, top bike.

Strange thing is I've never used the choke from the day I got it.
On servicing, the plugs are the right colour and its doing 55mpg.

I just wondered if the rest of you 600 owners have the same experience?

If i try to use the choke or open the throttle during starting she wont go, just push the button and leave well alone and she starts first time every time.
    Any ideas
    thanks Dave

    hi ,
thinh the carb set up is same as 650v then the choke plungers are a real pain in the ass,
Always requiring pulling out and spraying with wd40/acf stuff, usually every 6mnths more if it rains a lot.

think the rain runs down cable from choke set on bars then corodes the springs, a good spray of the spray does the stuff.

But normally you get eratic tickover when engine hot and at least wrong plug colour, sounds to me the jets were changed as when choke applied -ie fuel richer it wont start so mixture wrong or air filter blocked.

    happy fiddling
give the bike a good spray with "acf" now and forget about cleaning till spring.

never had a problem with my choke plungers in over 4 years. They don't get used much mind.

    Re: No choke required

I had a couple of months of having to use the choke to get the bike started, then the battery died and had to be replaced since fitting the new battery It starts without the choke.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE
