    clutch lever handle

Can the 700 owners please check the spell on their clutch handle.
I don't mean the normal movement "pull in and let loose again" when shiffting gear ,but the spell up and down.
Mine has since a long time about 1,5 cm movement up en down.
Dealer says "its as tighten as possible" ,we checked the only other 700 in his shop witch also had some "up and down spell".

If you other 700 owners have the same amount of movement i'll guess that this is normal.
Otherwise i don't know if this could harm in any way the proper function on the clutch or cable in due time?.

    Enjoy

I think most levers move slightly. It is the tolerance, as long as it is not excessive.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Stumpy ,just for the record ,while in the shop i also did try other bikes their clutches and some of them are indeed a little loose .Others where pretty tight ,but thats because they have a different construction.

Bluff and Dogmatick ,if others can confirm the plus minus 1 cm than we can assume its normal for the 700 to have a loose clutch handle.

    Enjoy

You must take into account the length of the lever. If it moves 1cm at the lever end then the movement at the fulcrum point (where the bolt goes through) will be quite a bit smaller. Imagine your lever as being twice as long the movement would be horrendous but the fulcrum would still be the same. Mines just over 1cm, you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure you have about 10-20mm free play (measured at lever end) before clutch lever (on g/box casing) starts to move.Dave.

    Re: clutch lever handle

think you`ll find you would have far more clutch problems if it was too snug a fit....dont want a clutch lever stopping midway do we? never mind vertical `play`, concentrate on horizontal play ( as in clutch cable free play.)
