Question touratech skid pan seeks compatable crash bars for a good time.

    Just some advice needed please.

I've managed to get a touratech skid plate on the cheap and am now looking at a nice pair of givi crash bars.

Problem is that I dont know whether these two will be compatable ie: is the belly pan gonna get in the way of the crash bars?

If anybody knows (and you guys always do) which crash bars will be OK, if not the Givi's, please throw your replies my way.

    Thanks guys.

Givi crashbars are very poorly painted, better to go with SWMotech.
As long as you can access the two front engine mounts you should be O.K.

    Crikey your quick!

Cheers for the info, I'll look into that.

They look so tiny though, do they actually protect anything?

The Givi bars do protect the lower fairing but they are very poorly finished.

The SW Motechs are the better crash bars.

Givi engine bars + TA meets tarmac at 50+mph for 70m slide = grazed engine bars (for grazed read ground down a bit ) . . . . . . and thats it (well, the gear selector & clutch lever needed some TLC ).

Nowt wrong with Givi if thats what you've got. Never seen the Motec ones, but I dare say they do a good job as well.

Not much help to Yahoo regards fitting the Touratech bash plate with them I know, just my tuppence worth

Trail Rider (i'am sure he does'nt mind using his pic) has done it ,so seems to work out okay.

Personly i prefer (and got them) the Givi's because they are set up lower in order to proteckt more the engine part.
Others are set up higher to proteckt the fairings first.
And engine damage (or parts of it) is a lot more expensive than a new fairing!.

As for the gearlever ,Touratech has a folding one ,to proteckt the clutchlever you can install iron handcaps ,also Touratech.

    Enjoy

Yea sorry guys, I should probably have mentioned I've got a 650.

So far the motech wins 'cos I like the idea of it being less in the way, minimal faffing when doing services or when whipping the fairing off etc.

Will I be right in thinking that they can stay on when you take the fairing off?

On the 650 at least, the engine is very unlikely to get damaged due to the bash plate at the bottom. With the bashguard of the 700 I can understand why lower crash bars would be a good investment!

MY 650 with touratech bash plate and TT crashbars.

I should not think that fitting other brands of crashbar would interfere with the bash plate..
