    Wiring spotlamps

    Hi
I have just fitted new Grave crashbars to my 650TA and added Della spots (not bright long beam) for visibility. Not trusting my electrical knowhow after previous mistakes I got my local bike shop to do the job. They have wired the spots to main beam only when I was expecting a switch so I can have them on or off at any time. They are happy to rewire but seemed to think main beam only was the best, particularly as it stops you leaving them on and draining the battery. I would prefer the extra visibility with them on with dipped headlight. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I think you've answered your own qestion.
The idea is to use them as marker lights for added visibility not to supplement the main beam.
I have mine wired seperately with an illuminated switch for use as daytime lights, rear light not so important in daylight.
With this set-up i can switch them day or night.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

The spots should really have their own power supply through a relay, that way you don't overload the high beam supply and they can be switched at will and are isolated from the bikes wiring. It's not a big job and they should really have known that.
Your going to tell us next they connected with a scotch lock and the sighs and shaking of heads will be heard throughout the forum.

Projector Lights for Adventure BMW KTM Motorcycle on eBay (end time 05-Nov-09 16:22:45 GMT)

Sure, got them off fleebay, here's the link...

Good guy to deal with, he's a biker, quick to post.

Bulbs are an extra and wire them through a relay.

I mounted them onto crash bars with a couple of mirror adapters, same size as handlebars 22mm.
