    Swapping OEM exhausts

Just an idea, does anone know of the top of their head (or had personal experience) of swapping the OEM XL600V exhaust with an OEM one from another bike, I'm sure I've seen or read it somewhere (I think it was off a sporty number)

Mine is getting a little brown and tired, but a new aftermarket one is out of my price range at the moment, I'm guessing the important bits are the diameter where it will slip on, and angle/ length and suitable support.

What about a 'stubby' number, I was at a local bike shop in Exeter last week and some one road off on a rat bike with one about a foot long at best (sounded great)

I don't think it will work the top of my head has no holes.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Has anyone put an unusual exhaust on? or have we all gone down the Lazer PD route?

I'm I daft thinking I can get away with sticking any ole can on (so long as it's gas tight?)

    Experiences welcome

Give it a go, I reckon it'll be fine!

On one of my 650's I have a Motad Venom fitted bought off ebay for £30 & intended for an NC30 with a custom link pipe, the runs fine with or without the baffles!

try Fuel Exhausts in Kendal. They seem to have some special offers on at the moment - TA link pipe and silencer for £124. Gotta be good value. edit..... just read your post - you have a 600, Fuel only do cans for a 650.

OR you can buy my new and unused Motad Venom end can for £40 plus P&P (about £10ish). You will need a clamp or 2 and need to get someone to make a link pipe (the one that's with it is for a GSX-R 600). If interested I will check what's in the box so you know what you will need. A link pipe shouldn't be too much to have made up.

Wow Jarl,I reckon you could be right.
Thanks for the offer Austin, but will try the one I've just picked up of ebay myself (off a 650 Bandit) £14 posted!, won't cry into my beer to much if it doesn't work, but will give it a go and keep everyone posted.

wow, wasn't being too serious when I suggested that! Personally I'd get a link pipe to put the opening a bit higher and angle the opening down as all the revs in the world aren't going to keep water out of that on a river crossing.

    Hmm, I've tempted myself now....
