Hey Tramp ,nice bike and i do like the GPS/SatNav setting!.
Mine (TT Rider 2) is set on the handle bar ,works fine aldo i have to look down a bit to see the directions. Been figuring out a while to put the GPS higher like you did. But so far haven't found a decent solution on my 700.
So how did you attached the holder above the clocks?. Drilled a couple of holes in the plastic and attached with screws or an other way?
Enjoy
hi greyalp,
thanks glad you like the bike, basically for the sat nav i got the mount arm and ball mount from RAM mounts-[who else]then removed the clock surrond and made a small reinforcing sheet out of 6mm ply [nothing to technical] then glued it underneath with some epoxy glue I had lying around.
fixed ball mount to this with two bolts and washers underneath and ran cable along under tank to battery, the feed is permenantly live so must remember to remove sat nav when I`m stopped [but youd do that anyway to stop the tealeafs nicking it]
works really well very little vibration upto 80mphand straight in eye line site down the road for those emergencies, and when stop intraffic easy to reach and best of all its protected from the weather and salt.

Looks good, although I thought from the heading it may have been Africa Queen Dakar fairings. Maybe a good thing to keep going with. Pity that they dont do anything for the XL700V. I would love to see a Dakar fairing for the 700, maybe coming. They do some good ones for the XL1000V.
Just make yourself a bar mount by bending up some old ally, just find a suitable mounting point each side,no drilling no damage, just a bit of searching about for a bit of suitable bar to bend up.I mounted it by screwing up through the bottom of the two metal brackets that come with the tall screen which are mounted to the two rubber well nuts each side in the fairing,i'm sure you could find a suitable two bolts to attach to on the 700 screen or fairing.![]()
Okay ,i get the picture but unfortunately my higher windscreen on the 700 does'nt close up to the fairing like the older TA's. I mean there is an big airgap in between. Aldo waterproof the TT Rider 2 would get rain and wind trough that gap ,don't know if thats harmfull or not. However winter riding means very cold (riding) wind and GPS is still a electronic device!.
Second point against your solution ,above the clocks are 2 scews (holding the windscreen holders) which i could use for installing a bracket of some sort but those screws are in the plastic fairing ,not a strong point for holding a rather heavy TT2.
There are some special made solutions for other bikes like BMW and Pan European ,not to cheap do with up to 200€.
So i'll keep looking on....
Enjoy

g'day tramp!
How much did they cost you with postage etc?
I'm looking for some, but cant shell out for Graves so this might be an option.
Cheers
hi yahoo,
probably about the same for graves bars, mine was 221.17 euro inc delivery [2 days by dhl] vat at 19% and credit card surcharge of 3.8%.
did not agree with surcharge but cheaper than bank transfer and with visa everything covered.
If interested drop them a email in English via their site [they are very good] they sya wether in stock or not. Just ask then to queck everythings in the bag so to speak as I had 2 screws missing [went to local harwhare store £1.05p so not worth complaining about.
One very important fitting detail make sure the circlips on the connecting tube between each cylinder are pointing down- mine were not and had a smell water leaktill I moved them round , as they were pressing on centre bar . now all okay
. bars excellent and look very strong and cover important bits unlike some others,
I think Jarl of this site was looking at ordeering from Graves?
