    Chain jump problem

The split link part of chain is not running smoothly over front sprocket when it gets there, it is jumping a little most noticable sub 30mph. Have checked wheel alignment, chain tension and even tried to press the plate further on to make a difference (difficult)

    Anyone have any other ideas?

    Re: Chain jump problem

Split link as in one with a C - clip?

Is the chain worn? Pull it away from the back sprocket at the 3 o'clock position - if it lifts half way up a tooth it's had it. A worn - or too loose chain will make a rattly noise at low speed before engine power pulls it tight on the top run.

What about the sprockets - still plenty of wear?

Is the split link stiff? - move it to between the sprockets at the bottom and see how easily you can twist the link either side up and down - should be as easy as any other link.

Personally, I wouldn't use a split link and always use a soft link - once it's joined properly it'll never undo.
